AKB48 30th Single [So Long!]

AKB48's 30th single will be titled [So Long!] and will be released on the 20th February 2013. The single will be released in 3 CD+DVD editions, Type's A, K, B, in both Limited and Regular Editions, as well as a CD only Theatre Edition.

Each of the CD+DVD editions contains a team song unique to that type. The theatre edition will contain a kenkyuusei song. Each DVD will also feature more than 25 minutes of footage from the [2nd AKB48 Kouhaku Taikou Uta Gassen] (check out the setlist here), with Type A containing the compilation from both teams, whilst Type K contains just akagumi, and Type B just shirogumi. The music video to [Sugar Rush], the song which featured in the soundtrack to Disney's [Wreck It Ralph] movie.

As usual, the Limited Editions will contain tickets to a national handshake event whilst the first press copies of the Regular Edition will contain a bonus photo. The Theatre Editions are sold alongside individual member handshake tickets and also come with a different type of bonus photo.

Oricon End Of Year Charts (AKB48)

AKB48 have dominated the Oricon end of year charts round-ups. They placed number one in the "total artist sales revenue" table(which counts CD/DVD/bluray sales) with 19,098,000,000 Yen. That's the equivalent of 227 million US dollars, or 172 million Euros.

In the album table, AKB48 placed 3rd with [1830m] at 1,029,954 copies, and SKE48 placed 40th with [Kono Hi no Chime wo Wasurenai] at 143,648 copies.

 The release date for Kashiwagi Yuki's previously announced solo debut single has been set for 6th February 2013. A title has not been set yet. The single will be released on a new Avex-associated label titled [YukiRing] after Kashiwagi's nickname of Yukirin.

A countdown timer had previously been running on the website www.yukiring.jp with no clue to what is was. Her debut single is set to be a ballad and will be the theme song of a drama series starting on TV Tokyo starting in January, which Yukirin will star in.

I love Yuki's solo ballads so am really looking forward to this solo single and concert. I wonder what her solo drama will be about. This YukiRing label is curious and it will be interesting to see what other acts are released under that label.

AKB48 3rd Film [Documentary of AKB48: No Flower Without Rain] Announced

The 3rd AKB48 film [Documentary of AKB48: No Flower Without Rain] has been announced and will start screening in cinemas in Japan from February 1st, 2013.

The film will be directed by Takahashi Eiki, who directed last year's [Documentary of AKB48: Show Must Go On], but not the 2011 film [Documentary of AKB48: To Be Continued].

Similar to the previous film, this documentary will take a look at the biggest events that have occurred to AKB48 throughout 2012, including the graduation of ace, Maeda Atsuko, and the momentous concerts at Tokyo Dome. The film will mostly feature interviews and behind-the-scenes footage, and is even said to touch on the topic of "forbidden love" for idols.

A documentary film has now become a yearly staple of AKB48, but nonetheless, I am looking forward to it because it always provides insights we don't get so see elsewhere, and we get a valuable look at what is actually going on within the group and what some of the members are feeling.
